I have known Caleb for a while from my time working on HIFL Nigeria projects. The conversation normally goes, "Modo how far, images images, we need them now man". The discussion about taking this massive step started with muted inquiries about our services on a personal basis but came full circle when he said he is getting married and wants to engage us to do his pre-wedding pictures, with the window open for further engagements on the main wedding.

The thing that got to me was that Caleb didn't really stress the shoot or pick on the tiny details, he just booked the date he will come in with Esther and trusted us with the process. You see I always knew Caleb was kinda a calm guy but meeting him and Esther together gave life to the title of this piece, 'Soul Mates'.

Esther was every bit as calm as Caleb, you can even say calmer, it kinda felt like I was meeting two Calebs. She brushed off the makeup artist's mix up and moved on as if nothing happened and delivered an amazing facebeat that professionals will be proud of.

So shooting them was easy, you see as a photographer that shoots weddings and couple engagements, you leave your house praying the couple you are going to photograph have chemistry because that literally is the difference between a mad engagement shoot and a dull one. Esther and Caleb have as much chemistry as a combination of all elements on the periodic table, it was kinda seismic, and when we let them go at it for a few minutes, we got shots like the ones above that we could never choreograph.

So we made our drapes debut with their shoot and I must confess, there could have been no cuter lab rats(Esther will have my head for this) than both of them as their beauty and compatibility gave us the strength and courage to keep the background for a couple other shoots with little variations. Away from our very successful experiment, my crew and I had a hearty laugh when these guys got around to selecting images. Just like during the shoot, it still felt like both of them were the same person, with the couple only disagreeing over one image out of the close to 20 they kinda penciled down as possible selections.

A photographers dream is to hang out with the couple you shot some Twenty(20) something odd years after the wedding, with both sets of kids running around and wondering how both parents became friends. Esther and Caleb, see you on the other side a silver jubilee away.
